What Does the Work Entail?

* Review and preparation of business and personal tax returns for small business clients from initial meeting through delivery and filing of returns

* Review of returns prepared by junior staff

* Preparation of tax projections on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis

* Support staff accountants and bookkeepers with technical questions

* Communicate with clients

* Organize and update the tax database

* Record tax entries into accounting software

* Understand and apply tax reduction strategies

* Preparation and/or review of financial statements

* Review of payroll taxes, W2s and 1099s

* Ongoing monitoring and reporting to management regarding quality and performance as a firm and by staff member

 

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

* 3-5 years of proven work experience in Public Accounting in a tax role is a must

* Must be a CPA, EA or licensed preparer

* Deep knowledge of personal and business tax code, tax concepts, rules, regulations, forms and savings strategies

* Experienced in effectively responding to notices from federal, state and local governments regarding income and payroll tax matters

* Knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Desktop

* Computer literacy, numerical skills and strong attention to detail are required

* Experience in Ultra Tax, Accounting CS software is a plus

* Knowledge of MS Word & Outlook as well as MS Excel is required

* Excellent verbal, written communication and organizational skills

* Ability to learn new processes and procedures quickly and execute them reliably

* Re-development and implementation of quality review program

* Re-development and implementation of cybersecurity program

* Preparation of advanced reports for CFO level clients.

* Review of bookkeeping and preparation engagement financial statements

* Review of payroll taxes, W2s and 1099s

* Ongoing monitoring and reporting to management regarding quality and performance as a firm and by staff member

 

Hiring Process:

Initial interviews will be held via zoom and can be held in the evening or on weekends. Up to two assessments may be performed by the candidate prior to the next step of the interview process. Next a group interview will be held in our office with candidates that may be a fit after which time a background check will be performed for successful candidates moving to final selection. Upon final selection, a formal offer letter will be written and provided to the candidate for acceptance.

* Is available to work 40-60 hours per week during peak seasons - Staff can choose a schedule commitment that works with their lifestyle

* Overstate experience or understanding

* Delegate more work than they complete
